US F-1 Visa Documentation(For International Students):
After receiving an I-20(Admission Confirmation) from US University, the student should book an appointment date for VISA Interview through VFS Website i.e., http://www.vfs-usa.co.in and the printout of the appointment date has to be carried for the interview.

      Mandatory Documentation Required to attend F-1 Visa Interview:
  • Valid Passport (At least for 6 months).
  • I-20 or Admission letter along with Offer letter.
  • Application fee receipt paid at HDFC Bank or authorized bank of INR 7074(Price may vary, check US consulate site for latest price).
  • Bar Coded Receipt of VFS service fee paid at HDFC Bank or an authorized bank for INR 322(or equivalent Dollar to INR conversion).
  • Application Forms: DS 156, DS 157 and DS 158 from www.vfs-usa.co.in
  • Web Receipt of Appointment Confirmation from www.vfs-usa.co.in
  • 2 colored photographs (size 2" X 2") with white background (50mmX50mm).
  • SEVIS fee of 200 USD payable on website http://www.ice.gov/sevis/
Additional Documents Required:
  • All academics starting from 10th in original.
  • TOEFL/IELTS/GRE/SAT/GMAT score sheets
  • Extra Curricular Activities & Merit Certificates
  • Chartered Accountant certificate  
  • The supporting documents for the C.A. Certificate can any of the below:
    • Proof of Movable Assets such as: UTI/MIP/ULIP/LIC/NSC/KVP/IVP/NSS/PF/PPF/GRATUITY/SHARES/DEBENTURES/BONDS/FDs in Nonbanking Organizations such as ICICI  Finance, ITC Classics/household effects/jewellery/vehicles/Advances all in original.
    • FDR's/Bank Passbook/Monthly Statement along with Bank Certificate (in original but not later than 10 days old.
    • Proof of Income-Salary Certificate/P & L Account for Business Income/Income Tax Returns/Declaration of the tenant and Rental Receipt for rental income/ Block Development Officer or MRO certificate for agriculture income in originals.
    • Proofs of Immovable Assets-valuation papers from Govt. Approved Valuers/ Architects/Engineers/Registry of Property/Power of Attorney/Title Deeds/Sale Deeds/ Sale Agreements etc.
  • Work Experience Certificates, if any.
  • Leave letter from the employer if leave is sought or any fresh jobs offer in India, if any.
  • Affidavit of Support from Sponsor - Parents / Brother / Spouse / Sister Relative etc.,

  • MRO Certificate, Agricultural receipts (for agricultural income)
  • Pass Book (for Bank statement)
  • Income Tax Papers (of sponsors)
  • Salary Certificate, Proof of Annual Income.

F-1 visa is fairly simple to apply for and lets you stay & travel throughout the U.S as long as you are a student and also provides you opportunity to bring your Spouse and any children under the age of 21 into the country while you are here studying.
